Ingredients

Active Ingredient:

5% benzoyl peroxide.

Inactive Ingredients:

Cetyl Alcohol, citric acid, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propylene glycol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium citrate, water.

Benzoyl Peroxide

Recognized on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines and introduced as an effective acne treatment in the 1930s, benzoyl peroxide is a proven, effective medicinal ingredient in the Benzagel® family of acne treatment products.

Benzoyl peroxide works in two ways. First, it eliminates acne-causing bacteria and unclogs pores by clearing away dead skin cells. Second, it adds oxygen to the skin, which removes Propionibacterium acne bacteria’s ability to cause redness and inflammation to acne spots.

How to Use

Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: Shake well before use. Wash face twice daily with Benzagel Acne Wash and warm water using a gentle rubbing action. Rinse off after 20 to 30 seconds. Dry with a clean towel.

For new users: Apply product to a small area with a thin layer. Start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily, if needed. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

Safety

For external use only.

Allergy alert: Get medical help right away if you develop hives, swelling of eyes and mouth, blistering, or difficulty breathing. Do not use on sensitive skin if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have severe acne. When using this product: Skin irritation and dryness are more likely to occur when using another topical acne product at the same time. If irritation occurs, use only one product at a time.

Avoid contact with eyes, lips, mouth and nostrils. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Avoid contact with hair and dyed fabrics, which may be bleached by this product. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and use a sunscreen. Stop use and ask a doctor/health care practitioner if you develop severe irritation, burning or itching of the skin, or if improvement is not apparent within 6-8 weeks.

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, call poison control centre or get medical help right away.

Advice

Wash your face with warm water to open pores and remove acne-causing bacteria without the harsh results that hot water can give. Be gentle with your skin for better results.

Benzagel® is proud to receive the Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada’s official Recommended Seal of Approval for both our Benzagel Acne Gel and Benzagel Acne Wash. We’re excited about our partnership with this organization, dedicated to helping Canadians fight acne.
