Benzagel’s Top 3 Ways to Make Your Skin Love Winter Activities

Benzagel’s Top 3 Ways to Make Your Skin Love Winter Activities

Depending on where you live in Canada, you've seen various degrees of winter this year, but nobody avoids it completely. So today we want to celebrate the chilliest time of year by sharing our 3 favourite winter activities, and some tips that can help keep your skin clear throughout the winter.

Just for fun, leave a comment telling us what your favourite winter activity is, and maybe it will end up on our next list!

You don’t have to be playing hockey to strap on a pair of ice skates and go for a few laps!

Alone or with friends, skating is a great way to enjoy the fresh winter air, get some exercise, and take advantage of the cold weather.

Before you get out on the ice, remember these 3 things. Trust us, they’re important.

1) Wear warm socks, 2 pairs if you can. Skates aren’t warm like your winter boots, and the last thing you want is to have cold feet ruin a perfectly great skate.

2) Be ready to fall. Even the very best skaters will catch an edge (or a toe-pick) once in a while, so it’s important to be ready. Don’t keep your hands in your pockets and watch where you’re going.

3) Be safe. Skating is a lot of fun, but there’s risk involved. Avoid dangerous games like crack the whip and instead have fun with games like freeze tag (perfect for a cold winter day). We want everyone to have a great time, and make it home safely so you can back out on the ice again soon.

Tip: Endorphins released from exercise and fun activities can help reduce your stress levels and reduce acne breakouts!

If there’s a hill at your house, or at a park in your neighbourhood, or in your school yard, you know how awesome it is to get dressed in your winter gear and start sliding down as fast as you can.

Now, it’s important to remember that you have choices to make when you’re getting ready to hit the hills. You have to choose your sled (our favourites are tubes, GT sno-racers, and classic wooden toboggans), find the right line that you’re going to follow down the hill, and how far you want to go down - because you have to walk back up again!

Tip: Remember to wash your winter gear (hats, mittens, scarves) regularly to avoid spreading bacteria that can cause breakouts.

Building a Snowman

Do you want to build a snowman? Of course you do!

Building a snowman is so much more than just rolling up 3 different sized snowballs and stacking them on top of each other. When you really want an awesome result, you can do so many extra little things to your creation.

1) Add a blast of colour using regular household food colouring. All of a sudden you’ve gone from plain white snow, to something that will catch your neighbour’s eye!

2) Play dress up using old winter or even summer clothes. You don’t have to stick to a corn cob pipe and a top hat, throw on a Hawaiian shirt and a lei for a Frosty people will stop and take a picture of!

3) Get creative with your shape. Like we said, your “snowman” doesn’t have to be 3 balls stacked up, it can be anything you want. Make a castle or a dragon or the Millennium Falcon… go crazy!

Tip: Wash your face with warm (not hot) water to avoid pulling moisture out of your face. The winter air can be harsh on your skin and hydration is an important part of having healthy skin

And remember, Benzagel is the #1 pharmacist recommended acne treatment in Canada. We offer serious medication for serious results.
