3 Tips for Healthy Skin this Holiday

We know the holiday season is full of distractions and opportunities to let your regular routine slide. But it's still important to take care of yourself to prevent acne breakouts. So today we want to share 3 tips that can help keep your skin healthy and clear of acne as you celebrate the holidays with your friends and family.

1. Enjoy Yourself!

It sounds simple, but the holidays can be a stressful time for a lot of us, and stress has been known to be a contributing factor in acne breakouts. Be sure you give yourself time to do the things that make you happy during the holiday season so you don’t become overwhelmed with a busy schedule.

If that means you need to make time to just be alone and listen to music, do it. And on the flip side, if that means sending messages to close friends now so you can make a plan to hang out over the holiday break, do that!

2. Take Care of Your Body!

Over the holidays we can all have a tendency to lounge around a little more than usual, and dip our hands into the tasty treats more than we do during the rest of the year. Both exercise and a healthy diet help keep your body and skin in its best condition. Make sure you don’t neglect your body’s needs while you’re in full relax mode.

A) Go for a walk. It’s as easy as putting on your hat, coat, mittens, and boots to go outside for a few minutes. Just walking around the block or to a friend’s house can help to get your body back in gear after some Netflix binging and holiday treats.

B) Eat some veggies. Mix up your menu with some raw veggies during the day while you’re hanging out. Cookies taste great, we know that, but your body needs those vitamins and nutrients to stay at peak levels of energy and health.

3. Stay Hydrated!

The holidays are prime time for extra hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and soft drinks. But don’t forget that your body needs water to maintain its best condition, including the fight against acne breakouts.

A good rule to follow throughout the day is to drink 1 glass of water to match 1 glass of anything else that you drink. Keep that in mind as you go through your day and you’ll find that you’re plenty hydrated and not feeling the effects of dehydration like dry skin, headaches, and cramped muscles.
